Patna: The determined Indian women Kabbadi team kick-started their World Cup campaign on a resounding note as they thrashed South Korea by a huge margin of 35-13 at the newly built Patliputra Sports Complex here on Thursday.

With this victory, India tops the tally with two points.

Electing to raid first, Indian women Kabaddi team’s domination proved to be a hitch on the way of South Korea as they could only manage 3 points against 25 scored by Indian women in the first half of the match.

The vigorous Indian contingent of Captain Mamata Pujari, Priyanka Negi, Abhilasha, and Dipika started sturdily and were on top in every department against South Korea.

For India, skipper Mamata took the charge and started the first raid but Priyanka Negi scored the first point for India.

With the help of an emphatic show, India had achieved first Lona in the first five minutes of the match.

As per the rules, a bonus of two points is awarded to the raiding team if the entire opposing team is out.

With the splendid performance the second Lona was bagged by Indians in just 15 minutes of the match.

On the other hand, Captain Huan Jo held the fortress and bagged three points for South Korea, including a bonus point.

As per the rules, when a raider, after touching any of the defender reaches his court or home safely gets a bonus point.

Indian team, which played aggressively in the first half, was seen worn-out in second half of the play. Taking the advantage, South Koreans scored six points.

The visitors tried to bring themselves back into the game, but their dismal show in the first half ruined their expectations.

In the last minutes of the game, South Korea played dejectedly and gave additional points to India by playing foul.
