Melbourne, Jan 29 (Jagran News Network): Failing to claim their first Grand Slam title after their reunion, Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes lost the final match to Bryan brothers in the Australian Open on Saturday.

Mike and Bob Bryan beat the ‘Indian Express’ by 3-6, 4-6. The duo failed to script history and the defeat came as heartbreak for the tennis fans in India.

Lee-Hesh had advanced to semis beating Michael Lodra and Nenad Zimonjic. The third seeded Indian pair, who teamed up together after nine years, defeated the second seeded pair 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 in the semifinals.

Last time in 1999 in Melbourne, Leander and Mahesh lost a heart-stopping five set match to Pat Rafter from Australia and Swedish Jonas Bjorkman. The Indian pro were beaten 3-6, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (10), 4-6. 

Paes has won 12 Grand Slam titles and Bhupathi 11 in their respective careers. Interestingly, Bhupathi has not won a men's doubles Grand Slam title since 2002 US Open with max Mirnyi.
