An Indian girl who can neither hear nor speak was 7-8 years old when she was rescued by the Pakistan police 14 years ago from Lahore railway station soon after Samjhauta Express left the platform.

According to Bilquis Edhi, a human right activist, the girl was first brought to an Edhi Centre in Lahore, then the girl was shifted to the shelter home in Karachi where Bilquis Edhi named her 'Geeta'.

This incident grabbed the attention after the huge success of 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan'. Later, Pakistan's former minister and human right activist Ansar Burney, tweeted to the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj about this girl and asked her for help.

The External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj responed to the call and tweeted, “I have asked Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Dr TCA Raghavan to go to Karachi and meet this girl”.
