Jaffrey, an employee of a multinational firm Trigyn Technologies Limited, was posted in Sudan more than four years ago. He was robbed, beaten and abducted on March 11 this year outside a restaurant where he had gone for dinner with a colleague.

His abductors called his employers a few hours later and demanded a ransom of 32 lakh. As part of Trigyn’s contract with UN, Jaffrey is one of the nearly 100 people working in Darfur on a UNAMID project.

According to sources, Jaffrey is now in the safe custody of the Sudan government. The 32-year-old IT engineer is expected to return home soon in a chartered plane being arranged by the Sudanese government.
