Fifth-seeded Mirza and Black won 6-4, 6-1, Wednesday and will now play fourth seeds Czech Lucie Hradecka and China's Jie Zheng who defeated Kveta Peschke and Katerina Srebotnik in a hard-fought quarter-final super tie-break 7-5, 5-7, 10-3.

Leander Paes crashes out

The fourth seeded pair of India's Leander Paes and Czech Radek Stepanek was beaten by the unseeded Swiss duo of Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka in the quarter-finals of the men's doubles at the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament.

In an encounter that lasted 79 minutes, Paes and Stepanek went down 3-6, 7-6 (6) and 4-10 against the Swiss combine on Wednesday night.

In the semi-finals, Federer and Wawrinka will face Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares. The other semi-final will be an all-American clash between the Bryan brothers and John Isner and Sam Querrey.
