New Delhi: Indian women cricket team started world cup campaign against West Indies on a good note by posting a big total of 284 on the board on Thursday. Indian team lost six wickets in 50 overs. Earlier, the West Indian captain won the toss and asked Indian team to bat.

P G Raut and MDT Kamini came out to open the batting for India. Both the opening batswoman played well to counter the West Indian attack. MDT Kamini went on to score century before being adjudged run out. PG Raut supported well with a score of 72.

Continuing the good batting display of the openers, Jhulan Goswami came out on the fall of first wicket played a good cameo 36 runs of just 21 deliveries. Jhulan hit 6 boundaries in the knock with a strike rate of 171.42. H Kaur also joined the party and scored 36. Kaur hit 2 sixes and 4 boundaries in the knock.

All the West Indian bowlers proved costly. Except for Anisha Mohammed, nobody ended with an economy less that 5 runs per over. S R Taylor gave 54 runs in ten overs.
