Lucknow: A major tragedy was averted on Friday when the window panel of a Mumbai-Lucknow bound IndiGo Airplane cockpit broke thereby disbalancing the plane.

At 4:30 in the evening, an IndiGo Air plane 6E-342 from Mumbai was heading towards Amausi Airport, Lucknow when the window of the cockpit suddenly broke due to high wind pressure forcing the plane to lose balance.

Taking immediate action the pilot lowered the speed of the plane and took the plane to a height of less than 1000 metre. The Air Traffic Controller was soon informed about the situation.

As many as 180 passengers were on board when the incident took place. However, the pilot managed to land the plane safely at Amausi airport.

Director of Lucknow airport Atul Dikshit informed that all the passengers are safe and the officials of IndiGo Air are coming to Lucknow to investigate the matter.
