Ranikhet (Almora): The two-day joint Indo-French military exercise ‘Shakti-2011’ came to an end on Tuesday. The exercise was held in Chaubatia Cantt.

The exercise aims at enhancing combat skills, promoting mutual understanding and inter-operability between the two armies.

The troops of both the countries shared several technologies between each other. The French troops took lessons from their Indian counterparts in fighting terror. They also got tips in decoding conspiracies hatched by the enemies.

Military sources said the armies of both the countries shared tips of defusing explosives laid by the enemies. They also practised how to set-up check posts, along with taking tips on firing.     

Significantly, it is the first ever joint exercise between India and France under the 99 Mountain Brigade. 60 jawans each from both sides are sharing tips on counter terrorism.

Colonel Manjit Kalra was the Commanding Officer of the Indian contingent while Barnad Gailot led the French side.
