Henry Bambang Soelistyo, head of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) said the bodies were found in Okbape district near Oksibil city, the flight's scheduled destination, media reported.

The plane crashed on Sunday en route from Jayapura's Sentani airport for Oksibil. It had disappeared right after the take off.

The debris of the plane, which apparently hit a mountain slope, was spotted on Sunday.The search efforts involved 10 small planes and helicopters.

Tatang Kurniadi, head of Indonesia's National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT), said the plane was fit to fly on that day.

Earlier yesterday bad weather hampered efforts to reach a remote site where an Indonesian plane crashed with 54 people and cash worth almost half a million dollars on board.

The Trigana Air ATR 42-300 plane disappeared just after take-off on Sunday enroute from Papua's capital Jayapura to Oksibil.
