Kolkata: After conducting a probe for six days, the Fire Department officials and authorities of the intelligence wing of state police confirmed that the fire in AMRI hospital originated from the inflammatory articles and cotton kept in the upper basement of the hospital. 

In the preliminary report submitted to the state Minister of Fire Services and Disaster Management Javed Khan on Tuesday had said that inflammatory articles and PVC pipes were kept at the basement due to which the fire spread quickly.

Meanwhile, the intelligence agency probing into the matter has also collected few evidences. Besides, the agency in its investigation has found that cotton was present in the basement due to which the inferno spread rapidly.

Meanwhile, the four-member team of Forensic experts headed by Director Dhruv Jyoti Sengupta on Wednesday visited the site and collected samples.
