Sydney, (Jagran News Network): Defending World Cup champions, Australia, will take a flight to the sub-continent on Wednesday in quest to defend their title. But Ricky Ponting’s army will board it without key middle-order batsman Michael Hussey and off-spinner Nathan Hauritz due to injury concerns.

Callum Ferguson and Jason krejza has been called up do don Australian colours for the mega event in place of injured duo.

Michael Hussey, who found a purple patch with the bat during the recently concluded Ashes series, was forced out due to a hamstring injury, meanwhile Hairitz is struggling with his dislocated shoulder.

It is a big blow to Australia’s World Cup preparations and they will especially miss the services of Michael Hussey, who gives the side stability in the middle-order and also have emerged as a finisher over the time.

The man supplanting him, Callum Feruson, has had a good run of form in the ODI series against England and the Aussies would like him to carry that form into WC.

Hauritz, might have come handy in the sub-continent’s slow, low pitches, however his form and accuracy has always been a big question mark. The tweaker was thrashed to all parts by Indian batsman when Australia last played the Test series in India.
