Kolkata: Police seized a large cache of arms behind CPI (M)’s office in Enayetpur of West Medinipur district.

The police also seized INSAS rifle which was looted during the attack on Eastern Frontier Rifles (EFR) camp in Silda.

Assessing the gravity of the matter, the inquiry has been handed over to the CID, according to sources.

West Bengal DGP Naparajit Mukherjee said that apart from Insas rifle, one AK-56, eight .315 rifles, US made rifles, one .375 rifles, 22 pipe guns and 136 live cartridges were recovered.

“The INSAS rifle was stolen from the Silda camp and the investigation has been handed over to the CID which will probe the issue,” said Mukherjee.

Maoists had attacked the Silda camp in which 24 jawans were killed.

According to the Left leaders, this is a conspiracy to malign the image of the party. In the meantime, police also recovered 12 bore and 203 rounds, two muscat and two double barrel guns from 24 Paragana district.
