Karachi: The intellectual class of Pakistan does not seem to be familiar with many facts of history regarding freedom fights and united India as they are given distorted information about the happenings of the past in India.

The people in Pakistan are not aware of martyr like Ashfaqullah Khan of Kakori train robbery and solidarity of Hindu-Muslims which made the British establishment adopt ‘divide and rule’.

The textbooks incorporate many objectionable facts about Hindu and Sikh. During the rule of General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, history books had been insulated from information about famous Sindhu civilization, Vedic period and Ashoka period in order to give separate historical background of Pakistan.

Professor Dr Peerzada Kasa Siddiqui, Karachi University, admits that these imprecise facts must be amended in the textbooks.
