New Delhi: Buoyed by strong demand for touch screen devices, domestic mobile handset maker Intex on Monday said it is eyeing revenue of Rs 400 crore this fiscal on the back of new product launches. (Agencies)
"The touchscreen market in India is very exciting right now and we are prepared to introduce some very feature rich new touch phones, touch and type phones for our young consumers," Intex Technologies (India) GM (Mobile Business) Sanjay Kumar said on Monday.
"For 2012-13, we are looking at a targeted growth of 75-80 percent in mobile business and revenue of Rs 400 crore," he said.
Also, 25 percent of this revenue will come from touchscreen devices, he added.
Currently, the company has two touchscreen devices -- Avatar and Sense and has added 'Cola' on Monday to its portfolio.
Priced at Rs 2,190, Intex Cola features a 2.4-inch touchscreen, 1.3MP camera with flash, wireless FM and memory expandable up to 8GB.
The company also plans to launch new versions of Avatar and Sense in different screen sizes, Kumar said adding that Intex intends to launch more touch screen devices later this year.
"Encouraged by the growing demand of phones in touch screen category, we intend to expand our portfolio and we are looking at adding eight more touchscreen phones of different screen sizes and different price points in FY2012-13," Kumar said.
The company said it has a six percent share in the category.
Intex sells 1.8 lakh handsets per month and sold over two million handsets in FY'12.
"Intex aims to capture 10 percent market share among domestic players and aims to sell 3.6 million handsets this fiscal. Among overall brands, Intex is aiming at three percent market share," Kumar said.
Intex is also looking at strengthening its distribution. It has over 100 super distributors, 500 distributors and over 10,000 retail partners across India.
"We are further expanding our reach in South India with the aim of tapping a minimum of 15,000 retailers in this financial year. We are also expanding in C class cities and towns," he said.
