Patna: The automobile owners here have acquired more time in hand for getting high security registration plate (HSRP) on their vehicles as the company entrusted with the task has failed to meet the contractual obligations on time.

Bihar Tansport Minister Brishen Patel said that the DD Industries had to begin embossing of the HSRP on vehicles by the month end, but had failed to do so as per schedule. "We have served a notice to the company. If the work does not begin within a week, we will terminate the contract and engage another bidder," Patel said.

His department, he said, would initiate action to recover the security money of Rs 50 lakh deposited with the DD Industries.

"One among the other three companies shortlisted earlier, including Agro Impacts Lvt Ltd and Uttam System, will be selected for the job," he said.

Embossing plate is a preventive measure against duplication in registration number and theft of the vehicles, Patel said.

According to the minister, the department had signed an agreement with Maruti to train master trainers to ensure safe driving, as 78 percent of the road accidents happen in the country due to negligence of the drivers.

Altogether 92 Volvo buses would ply on roads of the state within two to three days, Patel said and informed that the Volvo buses will link West Bengal TO Bhagalpur, Aurangabad and Patna.
