New Delhi: Terming the new provisions of Service Tax introduced by the Central government as detrimental to the rapidly growing outdoor advertising industry, the Indian Outdoor Advertising Association (IOAA) has demanded the government to amend the proposed provisions.

The members of IOAA held an important meeting last week in which it was also decided that all agencies would operate according to a standard procedure Set by the association.

In the meeting, IOAA president Neumie Mehta proposed the standard procedure that included a standard time period for contracts and a fixed time period of 60 days for the disbursal of bills.

IOAA has decided to adopt a standard code of procedure as the outdoor advertising industry in the country is still not well organized.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, in the Union Budget 2011-12, had proposed to bring the industry under the ambit of Service Tax.

Meanwhile, IOAA has decided to take the services of consultancy firm KPMG to give suggestions on Service Tax and measures to improve the outdoor advertising industry.
