Slap gate: The first controversy of IPL is known as slap gate. In the very first edition of the IPL in 2008, Mumbai Indians skipper Harbhajan Singh had slapped Kings XI Punjab pacer S Sreesanth after a match between both the teams at Mohali.  After television pictures appeared as evidence, the Mumbai bowler has been handed an 11-match ban and fined 100 percent of his match fee.


 
KKR in news: Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan dismissed a website report that his IPL franchise is up for sale. According to that report, Khan was in touch with several firms to sell the team which he had bought for Rs 300 crore.



Narendra Hirwani controversy: Former leg spinner and the then Central Zone representative Narendra Horwani, was reportedly asked to leave the VIP enclosure at Brabourne Stadium by the then IPL commissioner Lalit Modi.



Sacking of Lalit Modi: Just before the presentation ceremony of IPL 2010 final, Lalit Modi, the brain behind the cash rich league, was sacked as the IPL commissioner for misappropriation of funds.


Kochi Tuskers Kerala banished: BCCI terminated its franchise contract with the Kochi Tuskers Kerala citing irremediable breach of agreement by the latter.


Ravindra Jadeja banned: All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was banned from playing in the IPL 2010 for trying to negotiate a contract with another franchise. He was then playing for Rajasthan Royals



Arrest of Luke Pomersbach: Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Australian player Luke Pomersbach was arrested on charges of molesting an Indian American woman and severely attacking her fiancé leaving him in hospital.



Ban on King Khan: The Mumbai Cricket Association banned Shah Rukh Khan from entering the Wankhede Stadium for five years for misbehaving with its officials and violating its rules.



Spot fixing: Sreesanth was again in news for bad reasons when Delhi police arrested the right-arm pacer along with two other three cricketers Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan  on the charges of spot fixing. All the three represented  the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2013.



Gurunath Meiyappan case: In a seprate case Mumbai police arrested Vindu Dara Singh and Gurunath Meiyappan, son-in-law of then BCCI president N Srinivasan for alleged betting and having links with bookies.After Meiyappan arrest, the CSK franchise immediately disowned him.
