Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government issued an order on Saturday to appoint Ramniwas an IPS officer of 1982 batch as special DG of the state police clearing way for Niwas to take over from DGP Anil M Nawani who is to retire in November.

DG, Home-Guards SK Paswan’s name is doing the rounds to replace Nawani as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of the state but there is very little chance that he may be handed over the charge of DGP as he would be continuing in the post for four months only

Remarkably, in a meeting of DPC held on September 17 and chaired by the Chief Secretary of the state Sunil Kumar, ADG Ramniwas was given promotion and the Centre had accepted the proposal of Chhattisgarh government albeit with some conditions to appoint him as the special DG (Director General) of the state police.
