Lucknow: Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is in the process of tying up with the food plazas and canteens for managing eating joints at bus terminals and on highways.

The proposed plan was tabled by the joint directors of the IRCTC during a meeting with transport board officials on Tuesday here.

The venture is part of the IRCTC to expand its catering business.

According to the sources, the IRCTC has signed an agreement with the Punjab government for managing a few eating joints located on the Delhi-Amritsar highway.

The IRCTC officials believe that the venture will help to address the reasons due to which government owned restaurants are not in a profitable position.

The corporation is in the process of approaching various state governments as well as institutions for entering into tie-ups with them.
