New Delhi: Harbhajan Singh who is currently leading Mumbai Indians in the Champions League has been axed from the 15 members Indian squad announced on Thursday for the ODI series against England.

The team has been announced for the first two ODIs.

Bhajji, who was out in the middle of England tour due to injury, but is leading the Mumbai Indians without any difficulty in the absence of master blaster Sachin Tendulkar.

Under the supervision of injured Harbhajan, Mumbai Indians have registered two wins in the two matches they have played in the tournament.

Now the bigger question is if Bhajji is fit enough to lead Mumbai Indians, why he has been dropped from the ODI team on the pretext of his injury. Has he been instead dropped because of his performance?

If we analyse Harbhajan’s performance in the last few matches, it does suggest that the trubanator might have been dropped due to his below-par performance.

Indian turbunator played two Test matches in England before he got down due to injury and was able to clinch just two wickets.

India vs England First Test at Lord’s: 0/152, 1/66

India vs England Second Test at Nottingham: 1/22, 0/47,

Before that he had a terrible tour against West Indies this year. He was able to take only 11 wickets in the Carribbean from three Test matches.

He also just scalped three Windies wickets in three ODIs.

While Harbhajan has led the India’s spin bowling attack since Kumble hung his boots, several other youngsters have been knocking on the doors of the Indian Team.

So, is it a signal the selectors have given Harbhajan that he needs to better his performance and he can’t take his place for granted.
