Patiala, (JNN, Bureau): India’s lanky pacer Ishant Sharma believes top two teams in the ICC ODI rankings- Australia and India will lock horns with each other in the finals of the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 starting in 10 days time.

He also predicted that South Africa and Sri Lanka will definitely make it to the semi-final stage of the mega event. Ishant, who failed to book a place in the World Cup squad, has kept himself busy by playing Ranji Trophy for Delhi.

The pacer revealed that playing ODI and Tests for India is his priority and will be more focused on the longer formats of the game.

“Every player has his own game plan. I have always tried to focus more on ODI and Test matches and will look to perform well for India.”

When asked about considerable drop in his bowling pace, Ishant defended himself and said, “In the initial stages of the career, bowlers tend to concentrate more on speed and pace but later they realize the importance of good line and length. In a Test match, bowlers are expected to bowl 30 odd overs in a day with impeccable line and length.”

Ishant, who is probably the fastest of all Indian bowlers, added that with so much of cricket being played these days, bowlers are more prone to injuries and this in turn affect their career.
