Shimla: Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI has resorted to lure innocent villagers in Himachal Pradesh to use them as their secret agents to execute terrorist activities in the nation.

The reality of possible links with the ISI came to the fore after a suspicious bank account was investigated in the Chaupal Nerwa area. It was discovered that the ISI provided money to a native for purchasing mobile recharge coupons.

The villager informed the police that he had received a call from an unknown person in Pakistan who promised him to pay Rs 500 per day in exchange of working for him.

He was instructed to open an account in the State Bank of India in Chaupal on August 11 in which a transaction of Rs one lakh was carried out within a week.

After the transactions were traced by the bank management, the incident was reported to the police following which the SP, Shimla ordered an inquiry into the case.

Post investigations, the police came to know that the agent used to receive calls from Pakistan which asked him to buy recharge coupons of a particular company and inform the code numbers of the coupon to the ISI. In compliance with the order, he bought coupons worth Rs 15,000 from Chandigarh.

The police along with interrogating the villager has closed the bank account and seized the mobile number.

However, the police are suspecting that several other innocent villagers would have been lured by the ISI. A case of former soldiers becoming ISI agents has already come to the fore in Himachal Pradesh.
