The army personnel has been identified as Munawwar Ahmad Mir, who had retired as a hawaldar, said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav. Mir had joined the Army in 1995 and retired in 2011 after serving in units, including Jammu and Kashmir Infantry and
Rashtriya Rifles, in various parts of the country, said Yadav.
He was arrested by a 14-member team of the Inter-State Cell of Delhi Police's Crime Branch sent to Rajouri on Wednesday. He was booked under provisions of the Officials Secrets Act, said a senior police official.
He was produced before a court and shall be brought to Delhi on transit remand by tomorrow, the official said. Meanwhile, the police team is looking for a serving Army personnel and a civilian whose names had emerged during the interrogation of the suspected ISI operative Kafaitullah Khan, who headed an alleged espionage racket here, and his source, a serving BSF personnel, identified as Abdul Rasheed.
Also, an eight-member Crime Branch team sent to West Bengal's Siliguri on the same day is searching for another serving army personnel who had allegedly spied for the racket, said an official.
