"Narendra Modi imagined that good days are in the offing for the country. But it’s just the opposite happening with the Centre beginning to pile on economic burden on the poor," Soren said on Tuesday.

He said Jharkhand's demand to accord special status to the state was before the central government.

Hemant Soren blames CIL for state's underdevelopment
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has indirectly blamed the Coal India Limited for underdevelopment at the Panchayat level, claiming that the company owed Rs 50,000 crore to the state by way of mining compensation.
"The CIL has been mining 29,000 acre land in Jharkhand even before the freedom of the country. And the state did not get its dues of Rs 50,000 crore," said Soren.
"Had the funds been given, developmental programmes and self-employment schemes would have been taken up," an official release quoted Soren as saying during a meeting at Nirsa in Dhanbad.
Since the formation of Jharkhand on November 15, 2000, demands have been made to all the governments for adequate royalty from mineral resources to put the state on the map of developed states.
