New Delhi: With the end of examination season and declaration of the results, the students are now eyeing on the entry to their interested courses in country’s premium colleges.

Here is a good news for the Kolkatians and students across the country!

The students waiting for a chance to get entry into the prestigious ‘Jadavpur University’ can start applying for admission to various graduate and post graduate courses from June 6 (Wednesday).

The interested students can apply through online mode. Just log on to and fill the online application for admission in various courses offered by the university including B.Sc.(Honours), B.A.(Honours), B.Ed, M.A., M.Phil and Library Science.

Jadavpur University, commonly known as JU, is modern India’s first university setup by the British in Calcutta (now Kolkata) in 1861 as a means of spreading western philosophical thoughts among the elites in India and to create in the words of Lord Macaulcay, “a class of Indians who would be Indian in blood and colour but western in thoughts and ideas.”

Recently, the university was in news due to the arrest of its professor Ambikesh Mahapatra after he posted cartoons of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee online.
