Chandigarh: In a major setback to People’s Party of Punjab (PPP), party founder and former MLA Jagbir Singh Brar, former MLA Kushaldeep Singh Dhillon and Sukhjit Singh ‘Kaka’ Lohgarh on Sunday joined the Congress.

They announced their joining in the presence of Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh, party in-charge Thakur Gulchain and Bibi Rajinder Kaur Bhattal.

Captain Amarinder Singh said, “These leaders have faith and confidence in the ideals and principles of the party and hope their joining will strengthen the party”.

He also said, “This is just a beginning and more people from the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal party and the Bharatiya Janata Party may join Congress very soon”.

Kaka Lohgarh, who recently won the SGPC elections from Dharamkot as an independent candidate said that he had always served the SAD but found that the party was serving the interest of only a select few.
