Lucknow: The annual function and award ceremony of ‘Prakriti- The Nature’ saw Dr Abinash Kumar Jha, Assistant Editor (English Editorial), Dainik Jagran receiving an award for his constructive journalistic work. The programme was organised at Gomti Nagar branch of CMS on Friday by Prakriti- The Nature, an organisation working in the field of eye donation, nature conservation and child welfare.

Dr Jha, in his speech after receiving the award, applauded the remarkable work being carried by the organisation in the field of eye donation. “‘Prakriti- The Nature’ has been doing emulating work for blind people and working towards eradicating their plight and giving sight to them,” said Dr Jha. Highlighting media’s contribution to the same he added, “Media has always strived towards bringing forth any commendable work done by any social organisation which in itself is praiseworthy.”

The awards were given by Mayor Dinesh Sharma, former Lokayukt S C Verma, president of Prakriti- The Nature, Roopesh Kumar and President of Lucknow Bar Association C L Dixit.
Other than journalism, awards were also given to several well-known faces of the city from other fields as well. Banking and Social Services award was given to Regional Director, Reserve bank of India, Amrendra Sahoo. The award in education category was presented to founder-director, CMS, Bharti Gandhi. The industry award was given to unit head of a private cement company R P Sharma. Peace award was given to the founder of Kabir Peace Mission, R K Mittal. In the area of technical education, the award was given to chairman of a private institute Anil Aggarwal and administrative services award went to Vice-Chancellor of Manyawar Shri Kanshiramji Urdu-Arabian-Farsi University, Lucknow, Anis Ansari. The medico-social ward went to Dr Neeraj Bora from Sewa Hospital and the Best Couple Award went to IPS officer Amitabh Thakur and social worker Nutan Thakur.

On the occasion, Rakesh Singh, a participant in the ceremony, along with fifteen members of his family, took a pledge to donate their eyes and 72 others also filled the forms to donate eyes.
