New Delhi: In a ceremony organized by the National Farmers Union, Chief Parliamentary Secretary and Minister for Panchayat Development Choudhary Dharam Veer gave away the Special Contribution in the Northern India award to Dainik Jagran, the World’s largest read daily.

Chaudhary, who was also the chief guest of the ceremony, said, “In spite of the fact that the farmers are the backbone in the development of the nation, their condition in the country is pitiable.”

“If a farmer in Delhi is having one acre land, he is a billionaire. But if a farmer outside Delhi has three acres of land he is in a pitiable condition.

Emphasizing on the need to improve the condition of farmers, he said, “If we truly want improvement in the condition of farmers in the country, we should make farmer-friendly policies.”

Youth president Sonu, national vice-president Narendra Garg, state president Naresh Airen, state vice-president Mahendra Kumar were also present in the ceremony.
