New Delhi: The three policemen, who allegedly molested a 20-year-old woman traffic constable under the influence of alcohol, have been suspended.

Taking cognizance of the news published in Dainik Jagran on Thursday, a departmental enquiry has been set against the ‘molester’ cops who had maligned the name of the police.

Special Commissioner, (Provision & Logistics, and Recruitment) MS Sandhu confirmed the suspension of the three police personnel and said, “departmental enquiry is on against the tainted cops.”

However, the matter of defending the tainted cops has also come into light, as the officials kept brushing the issue under the carpet for five days before initiating any action against the disgraced policemen.

It was only after the Jagran’s efforts, highlighting the matter prominently, that the department woke up from slumber.

Notably, the three constables in Mounted Column of Delhi Police- Ajit, Rajkumar and Pawan, under the influence of alcohol followed and molested woman traffic police near Kudesiya Park. She was returning home after finishing her duty at Shahdara flyover.

As she cried for help, passersby and the traffic staff came to her rescue and caught hold of Ajit and Rajkumar and handed them to police. Pawan was later arrested and released on bail.

What was more surprising that Ajit and Rajkumar continued to be on duties in the Mounted Coloumn until Wednesday and no action was initiated against them despite their shameful act.

Rajkumar and Pawan were arrested the following day and the medical reports confirmed that they were drunk. Ajit was held March 16, police said. Moreover, there have been complaints against one of the police personnel earlier, but none bothered to pay attention.
