New Delhi: In an awareness programme, ‘Jagran Pehel’ initiated by the Jagran Group to make people aware of diabetes has not only given fruitful results by awakening 5.7 lakh people directly, but has also motivated three state governments to make necessary amendments in their policies.

During the campaign which laid special emphasis on pregnant women suffering from diabetes and its treatment, 5.7 lakh people of Jharkhand, Punjab, UP and Delhi were directly informed about the disease.
Also, by holding programs in many schools and colleges, around one lakh people were made aware of the disease. At the time of starting of this programme, it was found that Tamil Nadu where test for diabetes was mandatory for all pregnant women under the health facilities provided to them.

The high-level meeting to be held in the concluding day of the awareness programme would witness the participation of Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Danik Jagran’s managing editor and Rajya Sabha member, Mahendra Mohan Gupta and people from different health areas.

Similarly, under this campaign a national forum would be organized where Minister of State for Health Sudip Bandyopadhyay will be the chief guest.
