Chandigarh: Congress candidate Jai Prakash blamed party’s general secretary Birender Singh, Union Minister for Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja and state excise and taxation minister Kiran Chaudhary for his defeat in the high-profile Hisar Lok Sabha by-poll.

Similarly, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that he never witnessed such kind of wrangling within the Congress cadres.

During a review meeting on Friday held at the party headquarters for introspection after the defeat, a proposal of disciplinary action was brought against Selja, Singh and Chaudhary in their absence.

Haryana Congress president Phool Chand Mullana said the final decision on the proposal will be taken after investigations and a report will be forwarded to the party high command.

Jai Prakash directly attacked Singh and Selja in the meeting. “Both the families have opposed me. Not only me but Bhupinder Singh Hooda was also their the target,” he said.

“I had written to Sonia Gandhi during the by-poll elections that Birender, Selja and Kiran should fight from Uchana, Uklana and Bawani Khera and if they win from these areas, only then they should be considered as leaders,” he added.

Jai Prakash also accused former minister Chatarpal of anti-Congress campaign. He also alleged Chatarpal of distributing posters against him.
