Chandigarh: The Punjab jail administration has found no violation of rules by its officials in connection with the case of the alleged VIP facilities being provided to former Punjab minister Bibi Jagir Kaur.

She was lodged in the Kapurthala jail for conspiring in forcible abortion and abduction in connection with the mysterious death of her teenaged daughter Harpreet Kaur 12 years ago. The investigation report states that the jail administration has not flouted any rules and no VIP treatment was provided to her.

Kaur was convicted to five years’ rigorous imprisonment by a special CBI court. She, however, was acquitted on the charges of murdering her daughter.  Refuting the allegations of VIP treatment given to Bibi Kaur, Punjab DGP (prisons) Sashi Kant said, “No LCD TV or dish antenna, as was alleged, was installed in Jagir Kaur's barrack in Theh Kanjla Jail and there had been no violation of the rules on the issue of giving permission to people to meet her and allowing her vehicle inside the prison premises.”

He, however, said that it was only done due to security reasons and based on threat perception.
