Lucknow: Presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee was not the only guest at the lunch hosted by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, as two MLAs  -- Independent MLA of National Unity Party Mukhtar Ansari and SP MLA Vijay Mishra -- who are in jail on criminal charges also attended it.

Now-a-days, Mukhtar is locked in Agra jail while Vijay Mishra is behind bars in Allahabad. Both are permitted to attend the assembly proceedings and they were released from the jail to take part in the assembly session. When all the MLAs were being invited for the lunch during the assembly session, both the MLAs have also joined. The chaos had been created as the MLAs arrived.

According to the former Assembly Chief Sukhdev Rajbhar, the MLAs who are behind the bars could be released only to attend the house proceedings and as soon as the proceedings are over they are not allowed to go anywhere as the police take them into their custody immediately.

Rajesh Pratap Singh, ADG, jail, responding to the incident said that court gives the permission to MLAs only to attend the assembly proceedings, what kind of permission the court has given to them and why they are released to attend the lunch could only be told by the security force. No was ready to speak on the issue even after 10 hours when the lunch got over.
