According to the reports, miffed Reddy even did not come to the Petroleum Ministry office to hand over charge to the ministry’s new in-charge, Veerappa Moily. Though, Moily reached the ministry’s office at right time to take the charge.
When asked about Reddy’s annoyance, Moily declined to reply. Reddy has also not yet assumed the charge of his new ministry, the Ministry of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences.

Reddy’s removal from the ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has also raised eyebrows. Reacting to this, BJP president Nitin Gadkari criticised the move and termed it a decision made under the influence of corporate houses. India Against Corruption activist Arvind Kejriwal said that Reddy was punished for functioning honestly.

It is believed that Reddy paid price for taking on Reliance Industries Limited over revision of the prices of natural gas produced from KG basin off the Andhra coast and questioning the steep decline in gas production from the Reliance Industries Ltd’s KG D6 gas block.
