Highly placed sources in the Congress said that Ramesh is likely to be given railway portfolio in the next Cabinet reshuffle.

Suresh Kalmadi was the last Congress minister to hold charge of railways.

Speculations are rife that Sachin Pilot and Jyotiraditya Scindia may be promoted to the Cabinet rank, whereas Deepadas Munshi is likely to be inducted into the Union Cabinet to give representation to West Bengal.
