Jaiswal on Monday participated in a protest by Congress workers against the Samajwadi Party government's alleged failure to implement the act.
    
"The UPA government has brought the Food Security Act for the benefit of the people. But, unfortunately, the benefits are not reaching everyone in the country due to the failure of implementing the act in certain states." Jaiswal said.
    
"I appeal to the SP government to implement the food security scheme so that the people of Uttar Pradesh benefit out of it," he added.

President of Congress' Kanpur unit, Mahesh Dikshit said they will continue their agitation till the food security scheme was implemented in the state.
