New Delhi: The Delhi Police told a court there was a "higher level of conspiracy" that may also involve the country's security in the alleged attempt to retrieve call detail records (CDR) of BJP leader Arun Jaitley as it made a second arrest in the case.

The police also said it is looking into why the accused arrested in the case were drawing the call details of various political leaders.

"The investigation so far has revealed a higher level of conspiracy. It may involve security of India," it told Metropolitan Magistrate Aparna Swamy who extended by two days the police remand of constable Arvind Dabas arrested over the attempt to get the call details of Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

Besides Dabas, a private detective Neeraj has also been arrested in connection with the case, police said, adding that both of them are not cooperating in the probe.

Neeraj was taken into custody for interrogation after police concluded that he has asked Dabas, a policeman posted at Parliament Street Police station, to get details of Jaitley's phone records. Police sources said a hunt is on for two more people in connection with the case.

"The e-mail IDs etc used by the accused are official nic domains...it may involve security of India," the police said.

"The entire conspiracy has to be unearthed. We have to find out what was the motive behind the actions of the accused.

"We need to find out why were they drawing Call Detail Records of various political leaders and how far the accused persons are connected," the police said.

BJP said it will wait for the Delhi Police probe report to find out if the incident was part of a big conspiracy.

"It could be a sinister and larger conspiracy. Why the call details were being found out is a matter of concern. If there is a larger political conspiracy it will be unraveled after the probe," BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy told reporters.
