New Delhi: Girls dreaming of studying in the prestigious Jamia Millia Islamia have a good news to cheer about. The university is about to launch a new polytechnic for girls equipped with hi-tech equipments and laboratories.

The polytechnic will provide courses in architecture, information technology, interior decoration and fashion designing. In order to provide technical education to girls, the university has planned to launch this polytechnic exclusively for female aspirants.

The university has applied to the University Grants Commission for the grant of a fund worth Rs 40 crore to open the polytechnic courses.

NU Khan, Director, Jamia Polytechnic said, “The project was to be included in the 12th Five year Plan but the UGC was so impressed by the idea, that it considered it for discussion during the mid-term review.”

The polytechnic will provide three-year diploma courses with 60 seats in each course, he informed.
