Mathura: A Jat body has asked all the voters from the community to oppose the RLD Congress combine candidate for the June 12 Mat Assembly bye-election in Mathura.

"All India Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti has given a call to all the Jat voters for opposing the RLD-Congress candidate Yogesh Nauhavar for Mat Assembly by-election," Samiti's president Yash Pal Singh told media.

Jats are in majority in the constituency.

"The Jats of Braj area was given false assurance. Unless the union government decides to give reservation to Jats, we will work to ensure defeat of the RLD–Congress combine," he added.

The by-election has been necessitated after the resignation of RLD chief Ajit Singh's son Jayant Chaudhary, who opted to retain his Mathura parliamentary seat.
