At a literary event in Mumbai, Jaya Bachchan was her usual outspoken self and expressed displeasure about 'Happy New Year'.

At the event, the veteran actress said  "'HNY' is the most nonsensical film I've seen in recent years. I watched it only because Abhishek was part of it. I told him he's a great actor if he can act stupid in front of the camera like that.”

“I can't be part of what is being done in films these days and hence, I don't do films anymore. Cinema today is about business, not art. We call good films art house cinema. What does that even mean? All cinema is art," she added.

While Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has time and again applauded 'Happy New Year' and even called the flick a whopper blockbuster, his wife finds it the most  nonsensical film.

The actress and politician was discussing the failure of literature in informing current cinema when she quoted the example of 'Happy New Year'.

'Happy New Year', directed by Farah Khan, has an ensemble comprising SRK, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood, Vivaan Shah and Jackie Shroff.
