It is believed that the two leaders discussed the upcoming general elections during the conversation. Earlier on Thursday, Mamata said that she had no problem in working with Jayalalithaa if she became the Prime Minister.

“I would love to work with her and will definitely support her. I don’t care about the PM’s post, I am concerned about the people of our country,” Mamata told a TV channel when asked whether she will support Jayalalithaa if the AIADMK chief wanted to become the Prime Minister.
Within 24 hours of Mamata’s statement, Jayalalithaa called her up to say that even she is in favour of the path taken by the TMC chief.
On the other hand, it is being assumed that Jayalalithaa’s support has boosted Mamata’s morale and she might discuss the possibility of Federal Front with few more parties.

Banerjee has been repeatedly emphasizing that neither the Congress nor BJP will form the government at the Centre after Lok Sabha polls.

The West Bengal Chief Minister will be visiting Narendra Modi’s turf Gujarat along with veteran social activist Anna Hazare on March 20. Actor Mithun Chakraborty will also accompany them during the visit.
