Rampur: On the last day of campaigning of Uttar Pradesh polls, the Rampur police late on Thursday night raided the room at Modi hotel where Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Prada was staying.

The police claimed that the raid was conducted on suspicion that the Rampur MP was carrying huge amount of money meant for distributing among the voters.

The actress turned- politician alleged that the raid was conducted at the behest of Samajwadi Party leaderAzam Khan.

‘Why would I pay money to anybody? I am not contesting the polls. It is Azam Khan who staged a similar act at the same hotel in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. Today, the police checked our rooms after receiving orders from Khan,’ Jaya Prada said on Friday.

Jaya while lodging a complaint with the Election Commission also demanded for action against the person behind the entire incident.

She also made a call to former SP general secretary Amar Singh in front of the media to inform him about the development.

‘Amar Singh always stood by me and he is always there to help me. Why is the police not raiding Khan's house?' the MP asked.

Reacting to the allegations levelled by Jaya Prada, Khan said, “Jaya should not play caste based politics.”
