International ramps were dominated by 1920s-inspired fashion this season. Fashion house Christian Dior dressed pretty heads with soft leather cloches, designer Ralph Lauren stuck to feminine monotone cloches, while Armani opted for an androgynous style. Flapper-style hats were big too, as were oversized floppy hats. Though, women weren’t the only ones wearing the trend. Dolce & Gabbana teamed raffia hats with bold prints and tailored shorts for the ultimate summer look, while Armani opted for a more muted look with its black and white gentleman hats, and Burberry crowned its models with Gatsbys flourished with pom-poms. Here’s how you can replicate some of the coolest looks this season, for less.

Flat cap with floral print

The flat cap gets a feminine twist with a floral print, this season.
Wear it with A plain tee over jeans with manly brogues to balance yin-yang energies. Want to go bolder? Opt for a floral print and solid-coloured fitted trouser with the cap.

Straw hat

What’s spring without flowers, right? Right. Opt for this straw hat with a large polka-dotted flower and be the Belle of the Ball at the races, this year.

Wear it with a monochrome dress. If you have the body, opt for a fitted style. Else, opt for a flowy, more shape-flattering style instead.

Men, time to doff your Hounds tooth Fedora

Bruno Mars made retro sexy with his tailored suits, gelled hair and Fedora. Brad Pitt, who has a penchant for hats, has also been spotted on several occasions wearing the fedora over a crisp shirt.

Bejewelled cloche

Two reasons women should love cloches: they offer protection from the sun and are a great way to disguise a bad hair day, especially when humidity plays havoc with your tresses. Put on a floppy cloche and go from ‘chee’ to vintage chic. A word of caution: Over-accessorising will ruin the look.

Wear it with a simple monotone dress or skinny white trousers with a bright blouse. Wedge heels complete the look.

Lace Fedora

After boyfriend pants and jackets, came the fedora. Black lace adds oomph to the ‘man’ hat that is a great way to accessorise a casual outfit.

Wear it with  The fedora can be teemed with virtually any ensemble from summer shirts and jeans to wide-legged pants for a sleek look. It also works well with flowy, feminine dresses. Works well with a pair of oversized sunglasses.
