Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav said on Monday that Janata Dal-United (JD-U) president Sharad Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar snapped their 17 years long association with Bharatiya Janata Party at the instance of saffron party's patriarch and former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani.

NDA received a huge blow on Sunday ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections when JD-U pulled out of the alliance. The JD-U leadership had objections over the prospects of the ascension of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the prime ministerial candidate.

The problem between the two allies precipitated when the saffron party recently appointed Modi as chairman of its poll campaign committee.

Lalu also claimed that Advani sought assistance from Sharad Yadav and Nitish Kumar after Narendra Modi was elevated in BJP - a development, which reportedly miffed Advani to such an extent that he quit from all key party positions.

Speaking to reporters, Lalu Prasad Yadav said that the BJP as well as the JD-U betrayed the people of Bihar. Lalu further claimed that both the parties will bite the dust in coming polls.

The RJD supremo further said that BJP and JD-U had joined hands to isolate him politically and the break-up in NDA is a matter of immense happiness for his party.
