Srinagar: Attacking the Jammu & Kashmir government, noted Indian jurist Ram Jethmalani on Monday said human rights violations in the state are worse than those during the Nazi regime in Germany.

Jethmalani held Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s dictatorial attitude responsible for the current situation in the Valley.
“This is the worst ever here. Human rights violations in Kashmir are worse than in the Nazi Germany. The government has not bothered to review the cases of people arrested under the PSA. General Moosa has been languishing in prison for 18 years without any trial,” Jethmalani said.

Describing Omar as politically immature and novice Jethmalani said, “Only two people refused to meet me in the Valley. Omar is among one of them.”

The 2010 situation may crop up any time in the state after seeing the current situation in the state, the jurist added.
Jethmalani also demanded the state government to apologise to the affected families and compensate them whose members were killed last year by security forces during violent demonstration.

“We have received many complaints where police call the innocents to the station and torture them for no reason,” said Jethmalani.
