Ranchi: Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh police on Wednesday decided to start a joint operation against the naxalites in the bordering areas of the two states.

Senior police officials of the two states met here to chalk out the strategy of the joint task force.

Chhattisgarh zonal IG Rajesh Mishra, Ranchi zonal IG Rezi Dungdung, DIG Sampat Meena, DIG of Palamu and Hazaribagh zones, Suman Gupta and other officials were part of the meeting.

The police officials held that the joint action would also help the states in restricting other illegal activities apart from fighting the red ultras.
