Ranchi: As the land issue is becoming one of the major political issues in Jharkhand, the CPI-Maoist, supporting the Chotanagpur Tenancy (CNT) Act, on Thursday called for a 24-hour Jharkhand bandh on February 27.

Naxals have termed the political parties, advocating changes in century-old Land Act, as bourgeois.

A fax sent by the Maoists to Dainik Jagran on Thursday stated that Chief Minister Arjun Munda is in favour of amending the act.

Maoists have accused State Land and Revenue Minister Mathura Prasad Mahato and several other ministers of favouring contactors and capitalists in the state.

The CPI(M) will protest across the state starting from February 24.
