Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda on Monday congratulated newly elected President Pranab Mukherjee along with leaders of several parties for his massive win over P A Sangma and hoped the country would be richer by his long political experience.

"I congratulate and wish all the best to Pranab-da on behalf of the people of Jharkhand. The nation has a lot of expectations from him following his experience in political and social life," Munda said in his message here.

Extending party’s greetings, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM’s) Vice-President and former Deputy Chief Minister Sudhir Mahato said Mukherjee’s win has made 'one and all' to rejoice and his mastery in democracy would benefit the country.

Complimenting Mukherjee on behalf of AJSU party, its spokesman Dev Sharan Bhagat said Jharkhand being a tribal-dominated state, the people have expectations from the newly elected President in the state’s rapid progress.     Stating that the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantric) was confident of Mukherjee taking India to new heights, the party’s Principal General Secretary Pradip Yadav said, "We expect that after five years, Pranab Mukherjee will leave a unique mark in the highest constitutional post."

Janata Dal (U) spokesman Pramod Mishra said, "Pranab Mukherjee is a master of democracy, and the country can expect prosperity under his guidance."

Barring senior ally BJP, all its allies, JMM, AJSU and the JD(U) had supported Mukherjee’s candidature. Meanwhile, party activists burst crackers and distributed sweets at the 'Congress Bhavan' soon after the formal announcement of Mukherjee’s huge victory.

"We would like to use this occasion to thank JMM, Ajsu party, JD-U and the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantric) for voting Pranab Mukherjee," JPCC General Secretary Sailesh Sinha said.
