Ranchi: In a significant development, the capital of Jharkhand on Tuesday became the first e-district of the state. State chief minister Arjun Munda on Tuesday started the online services in the district from the Jharkhand Space Application Centre situated at Dhurva.

In a symbolic start, beneficiaries from Arsande Village in Kanke block were issued identiy cards with e- signatures apart from online release of pension. Seven online services have been started in this block.

In a bid to impart the e-education to the students, the chief minister launched ‘Eduset’ scheme. Besides he also inaugurated the online network called Automatic Weather Station (AWS) to provide weather report.

“These multilateral programmes will help in the progress of the state. This would help proving public facilities to students, farmers and others,” Munda said on the occasion.

Directing all the departments to connect their application with the new online techniques and programmes, he added that the plan which started in 2005-06 has started bearing fruits now.
