Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Disom Party (JDP) on Friday said the stance of "CPI (Maoists) to oppose any amendment in the century-old Chotanagpur Tenancy Act (CNT)" was welcome and expressed its resolve not to shed any bloodshed for getting the goal.

"We welcome Maoists stand to oppose any amendment in the CNT act but the ultra outfit did not launch any agitation in support of tribals Hasa (Land), Bhasa (Language), religion, displacement and employment even though their 90 percent cadre are tribals," the Vice-President of JDP’s central committee Sonaram Soren said.

The Maoists have never called a bandh or 'rail roko' in support of tribal issues so far, Soren said adding that JDP was firmly against their violent ways of "killing innocent tribals and collection of levy."

The approach of the governments was more dangerous than the Maoists with regard to tribal issues.

Soren said JDP will demonstrate against them in Karandih here on February 29 to mount pressure on the governments to implement constitutional provisions to protect the interest of tribal community.

The proposed 'Satyagrah March' called by Jharkhand Bachao Andolan, a front of adivasi and moolvasi organizations including JDP on Thursday in support of CNT and Santal Paragana Tenancy Act (SPT) has been deferred by a week and will now be held on February 26.
